Established in 1980, David Wheatcroft Antiques has been dedicated to selling the finest in American Folk Art for over 30 years.
Our gallery and offices are located in the American Block Building at 26 West Main Street in the center of Westborough, Massachusetts. We are open by appointment or chance during regular business hours. A phone call ahead is always appreciated.
On the main street in the town’s historic district, the American Block Building was constructed in 1871 and completely renovated in 2002. It features a 2,200 square foot gallery as well as offices and a research library. Our inventory is on display in the gallery and includes paintings and watercolors, a wide variety of decorative objects, furniture, redware, stoneware, carvings and weathervanes as well as a small selection of Native American artifacts. All of the objects sold by David Wheatcroft Antiques are fully documented and guaranteed.
David Wheatcroft Antiques has worked with many of the best collectors of American Folk Art and placed important works in both private and public collections. The Authentic Eye published in 2006 takes a look at some of these objects and is available for purchase on our web site.
Recognized as an expert on both the esthetic and historical aspects of American Folk Art, David’s advice has been sought by museums and esteemed private collectors and his opinions and business have been favorably reviewed and quoted in prominent publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Art & Auction, The Catalogue of Antiques and Fine Art and The Maine Antiques Digest. An article in the August 2006 issue of the New England Journal of Antiques entitled “Love and Need – What Makes Folk Art Great” offers an in depth view of David’s insight into the world of American Folk Art.
In his commitment to buying and selling, David Wheatcroft makes the case that “the best in American Folk Art is the best in American Art.”
